Whale Watch scheduled tours operate daily. Travel aboard our modern catamarans specifically designed and built for whale watching here in Kaikoura! The main passenger cabin is enclosed and outside decks offer great viewing and photo opportunities. Our friendly team of Skippers and Guides are very experienced in interacting with the local Sperm Whales and have expert knowledge of Kaikoura's sea conditions. Passenger comfort and safety are always our priority. |
We have an impressive 95% success rate in sighting whales which means we guarantee an 80% refund if your tour does not see a whale! Our on-board plasma screens display a virtual animated whale watching tour while the tour is actually taking place! Whale Watch tours are extremely popular so we advise to book early. |
In addition to the Sperm Whale, a number of other species may be seen, depending on the season, as they follow their migratory route. This experience also provides the opportunity to sight New Zealand Fur Seals, Dusky Dolphins, the rare and endangered Hectors Dolphins and a wide variety of seabirds including the Royal Albatross. |
Whale Watch is located in the town of Kaikoura - a scenic two and a half-hour drive north from Christchurch in New Zealand's South Island. Sperm Whales can be seen here all year round while 7 other whale species visit regularly. Lying hidden just offshore, the 2km deep Kaikoura Canyon is one of the world's great undersea wonders. Whale Watch has created a unique, award-winning series of animation sequences designed to reveal Kaikoura's hidden wildlife wonders - a world first for the whale watching industry. NOTE: Several tours are scheduled each day. Advance booking essential. Adverse sea conditions can cause cancellation. |
