Sparky's Backpackers is a new hostel in Invercargill, Southland NZ.

We're small in size but big on atmosphere. Our theme is 'Railways,' as Sparky was once a train manager on the NZR Southerner.SMALL QUIRKY HOSTEL,WHERE EVERYONE IS WELCOME HOWEVER WE ARE A CASH ONLY BUSINESS.

ANOTHER THEME is "THE WORLD FASTEST INDIAN" STARRING SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS a movie filmed in INVERCARGILL and the second part shot on location at SALT LAKE CITY UTAH. SPARKYS has actual props from the movie. PAST GUESTS have been known to dress up in the props ie glasses worn by SIR ANTHONY etc.
