Driftwood Retreat and Eco-Tours shares the wildlife, scenery and history of the beautiful Wairau Lagoon in Marlborough, by kayak or comfortable 4X4 air-conditioned van. We also offer architecturally designed retreat accommodation at the edge of the Opawa River.
The Wairau Lagoon is the earliest known site of human occupation in New Zealand, once the home of the Polynesian civilization called the 'Moa Hunter'.
The four and eight hour tours are tailored for private groups for a quality experience and are complemented by local stories of early Polynesian and European history, identification of the abundant wildlife and a homemade kiwi picnic on the lagoon.
It is a must for photographers with its birdlife and uninterrupted views of Cloudy Bay, the Richmond Ranges and the Wither Hills.
Driftwood Eco Tours has a strong conservation ethos and offsets its carbon footprint by planting one tree for every tour taken. We own and manage an eight hectare conservation wetland which you are welcome to visit.

Following is feedback posted by visitors to this property:Excellent Tour
Will Parsons was really an excellent, knowledgeable guide and a wonderful person to be with all day. We missed not meeting Rose as I had corresponded with her a lot prior to this trip to explore options to be with both of them. They are busy, busy folks and there were other commitments to be attended to. However, that did not detract from the tour with Will. We were hopeful of seeing the wetlands wildlife and just wished that there had been more at the time we were there. I highly recommend Driftwood and the eco-friendly tour for scenery and wildlife.

brilliant
started as a birthday surprise for my wife, ended up being the most amazing experience for both of us . hard to believe that there is so much history and bird life so close to Blenheim . the hospitality by Will and Rose was wonderful also the way the trip was conducted and of course the catering (on the water)was wonderful.top marks all around.

A great short tour.
Fabulous views and good guides made this one of our most enjoyed tours of our entire trip. Something that is a bit different to all the others and the smaller group numbers makes it even better. Good service and we could not be happier. We had no idea of what we were going to get.
