Welcome to the world famous Blue Pub in Methven, Mt Hutt Village - located right in the centre of town! The pub to be after a hard day in the mountains enjoying all the different aspects of this beautiful amazing space.
After a hard day tramping, mountain biking, rafting, fishing, skiing, snowboarding or any of the outdoor pursuits we have on offer; there is nothing better than settling down on the verandah enjoying a cold beer with some friends and reflecting on the day's adventure.
Once you have recharged the mind, the body will need to be charged up so try our excellent food, either in the Cafe, outside on the verandah or just pull up a stool at the bar and enjoy the friendly atmosphere.
We also offer facilities for functions and conferences in Samuels Summit Bar. With the capacity to seat up to 100 people, it's a great choice for your next get together, work do or party. We can provide a wide range of different menus for functions - from nibbles and savouries, right through to buffets and plated meals.
The Blue likes to think that it's one of Canterbury's major live venues for music and many renowned artists have played here. We offer the main bar as a venue and also Samuels Bar for the bigger touring bands. Just some of these bands who have played include The Black Seeds, The Nomad, Salmonella Dub, Rhombus, Dave Dobbyn, Elemenop, Drifters, The Exponents - the list goes on so check out our website for the latest gig guide.
Our upstairs accommodation is backpacker style with shared bathrooms and shared lounge area. There is a small shared kitchenette with microwave and fridge.
Please be aware that often on weekend nights we host awesome live music in the Main Bar - if you are not planning on joining us and prefer to work on your shut eye, please make sure you check our online gig guide prior to booking as band music does carry upstairs...

Worst nigth sleep in a long time
In terms of the room and facilities, everything was great. No issues at all. In terms of the quality of sleep it was pretty shocking. I expected to be kept awake some bit by the noise from the pub downstairs but was pleasently surprised that in my room I couldn't hear any of it. What stopped me from sleeping was the 10 or so other guests that decided the pub wasn't for them and were up until 4am drinking in the lounge area of the accommodation. Management needs to seriously look into introducing a no noise in the accommodation area after 11pm.

FANTASTIC
Definately recommend this place. Clean, tidy accomodation. Great wee pub vibe and friendly staff. Can definately recommend this to everyone, and we will be back for sure.
