Venue Guide Stadium Otago Dunedin Rugby World Cup 2011

Replacement Stadium for Carisbrook.

The new Otago Stadium is the world's only permanently covered stadium to boast a natural turf playing field, designed by leading architects and incorporating a space-age all-weather transparent roof.

The stadium contains flexible seating layouts, 335 car parks, five lounges, four stands, 21 corporate suites and 12 food and beverage outlets. Construction started on this new facility in June 2009 and will be completed in time for the World Cup Rugby in September 2011.

The stadium is located just outside the city centre overlooking the Dunedin harbour, and sits alongside the beautiful University of Otago campus. It is a 40-minute drive from Dunedin airport or five minutes (2 km) from the CBD.

Flexible space in the East and West Stands with the ability to bring in temporary seats, mean the layout can be tailored for a variety of sports & other events. For the Rugby World Cup the capacity will be at 30,000.
