WAIRAKEI ROAD, SH 1&5, WAIRAKEI TAUPO

Price range: $- - $-

Wairakei Terraces is located at Wairakei on the Thermal Explorer Highway, just 5 minutes north of Lake Taupo in the central North Island of New Zealand. We are adjacent to State Highway 1 and 5, bordering the Geothermal Steamfield and across the Road from Wairakei Resort Hotel.

The Wairakei Visitor Centre is a gathering place and departure point for visitors to the Wairakei Terraces Walkway and Maori Cultural Experience. local guides provide information, meet visitors and give direction for self guided tours. The centre also serves as an entrance point to the geothermal borefield. Four large Tekoteko depicting ancestral figures stand guard at the entrance and ensure it has high visibility.

Long History of Healing

The healing and therapeutic waters of Wairakei have long been used by Maori for healing and bathing and in recent times by affluent noble men and women who traveled from afar to ?take of the waters?. A combination of relaxing baths, massage and beauty treatments will revitalise your mind, body and soul.
