The Top House is a spectacular self contained holiday house looking out over Lake Taupo, and commanding breathtaking views of the lake and the mountains of the Central Plateau. It nestles into the bush at The Point, a private estate which still enjoys the unspoilt, peaceful environment that has always attracted visitors to the lake.

The architectural award-winning house, designed by Fraser Cameron in 2002, is an airy, inviting home. Stone from the property, extensive use of kahikatea (white pine), and matai flooring that once graced the wool stores of neighbouring Hawke's Bay enhance its distinctly New Zealand design and characteristics. Described by the NZIA judges as "?anchored to the land with its solid materials, texture and detail," the house floats "out and above the bush to the almost overwhelming views of lake and mountain."

The Top House is the perfect setting for many occasions, from intimate escape, to family holiday, reunion, and business retreat. It features 4 double bedrooms; 3 bathrooms; an additional toilet; beautifully-appointed kitchen and open-plan dining and living upstairs;a second living room; games room; laundry; two large hardwood decks; secluded native garden.This spacious house easily sleeps up to 12 in comfort.

All living rooms at The Top House have gorgeous views of Lake Taupo. They provide generous and elegant areas for entertaining, with the main living room leading out to decks both front and back of the house. In winter a fire can be lit to complement the heat pumps and add a welcome atmosphere. For those sports fanatics who would prefer to catch the ?game? on satellite television they can still feel part of the gathering at the other end of the room, or retreat downstairs for a more concentrated viewing in the games room. And if you do have to work ? we have broadband internet access.

The contemporary kitchen includes dishwasher, double ovens, quality crockery, cutlery and glassware, tablemats, microwave etc. The living room has satellite digital television, a stereo, and video player.

Downstairs is a second, large living room which looks out over the bush to the lake. Children can spread out in the games room which features DVD player, satellite TV, stereo and billiard table.
In summer you may prefer to entertain outside.

Outdoor living at The Top House has been designed to capture sun and shelter. The upstairs living room opens out on to both decks. On the garden deck there is a large gas bar-b-que, with a table and deck chairs for dining. The lakeside deck is smaller, but is ideal for smaller groups, or for relaxing with coffee or an evening drink. In high summer it is pleasant to dine on the lawn under the trees. The framing of native bush guarantees the private enjoyment of this special home.

Every bedroom in The Top House has expansive mountain and lake views. Upstairs is 1 double bedroom with ensuite (shower and bath), 2 double bedrooms with 1 connecting bathroom (shower), and an additional guest bathroom. Downstairs is 1 double bedroom and 1 bathroom (shower), with the option of turning the downstairs livingroom into another double bedroom. The games room can also accommodate 2 people, allowing for 12 people to sleep in comfort. As all the beds can be made up as super king or king single the house adapts itself perfectly for any number ? from small groups to family, friend, or corporate gatherings.

We provide quality linen and towels. We also provide the necessary toiletries for the initial part of your stay.
