The Square Martinborough

Price range: $140.00 - $395.00

The heart of Martinborough wine village

Taking pride of place at the entrance to the square is The Martinborough Hotel. Developer Edmund Buckeridge described it in 1882 as "one of the finest hostelries ever erected in any inland town in New Zealand". The hotel hasn't forgotten its past, and it's that sense of history and place that will charm you as soon as you step in the front door - from the battered suitcase of a gentleman traveller in the lobby, to the accommodation's sloping floors and olden day sketches of local personalities adorning the walls.

Today The Martinborough Hotel offers character, comfort and old-world style, making it ideal for a romantic weekend away, an indulgent escape, and a memorable part of any holiday or vacation. The Hotel's famed Bar & Grill, with its collection of memorabilia and historic photos, provides a comfortable space where locals and guests alike can pull up a chair and relax in front of the cosy fire.

Choose from twenty individually designed guest accommodation suites to suit your mood. Indulge in the elegant grandeur of one of our thirteen Heritage Suites, located on the first floor at the top of a grand flight of stairs in the original 1882 building and adjacent in the Petit Hotel. Or take a wander through the pretty courtyard just beyond the lobby and enjoy the tranquillity of seven spacious Garden Suites, finished in a restful simple country style.

Feedback

Lovely hotel, boutique with real comfort.
Only one shortcoming, they have leased out the restaurant so you have to go and eat out in the town because breakfast is not served.

would like to thank you for a wonderful night in the martin room, we were very comfortable. The claw bath was so relaxing, and such a wonderful feature to the room. The access to the veranda and the outdoor table and chairs was a nice touch, with an awesome view of the main street and square. All the staff were very friendly, and the meals were excellent, a big 5 star to the chef and bar staff. Will be recommending to family and friends, and we will be back for another stay sometime. Nigel and donna george - july 2013 .
