The County Hotel, Napier, without a doubt, is the finest hotel in the Hawke's Bay wine country and a destination in itself. Originally built for the Hawke's Bay County Council in 1909, The County Hotel is one of only two significant buildings to have survived the massive 1931 earthquake.

This beautiful historical building has been faithfully restored to offer the discerning guest a unique choice of eighteen rooms and suits. The hotel presents a charming Edwardian Art Deco grandeur, preserving its elegant heritage.

Dine in the multi award winning Wine Street Restaurant or enjoy a drink in the quaint Churchill's Champagne & Snug Bar with a superb selection of wine, single malt whiskey, cocktails and of course champagne.

The Hotel is situated in the centre of Napier, which is considered to be the ?Art Deco Capital of the South Pacific' and has captivated the emotions and senses of countless admirers.

Whether your stay with us is for romance, a corporate retreat, conference, wedding, function or one of the many events held in Napier, The County Hotel is the perfect setting - romantic and modern, elegant and stylish, a truly unforgettable experience can be assured.

On the doorstep & ideally located to the hotel are a number of activities ?

The New Zealand Wine Centre opposite to the hotel offers a number of options for wine and food lovers. They have a well stocked aroma room that offers plenty of wines to get your nose into and run a variety of wine tasting adventures, the best of which sees visitors fly in a Tiger moth over vineyards, enjoy 6 or 12 different Hawke's Bay wines whilst learning more about the wines from the makers themselves. It's an opportunity not to be missed.

The Art Deco Centre is your gateway to Napier's heritage and a visit to this city isn't complete without learning about the devastating earthquake of 1931 and the remarkable rebuild that was completed in just 22 months. Visit the Art Deco centre for information on guided walks, minibus and vintage car tours and to view a fascinating short film on the 1931 earthquake.

MTG Hawke's Bay is at home in the heart of Napier forming the cultural centre of this stylish city for over 150 years. MTG Hawke's Bay is a place where people, objects and ideas meet. MTG Hawke's Bay is home to a nationally significant collection of art and objects that form the foundation of distinctive exhibitions and a world-class research facility. The MTG Theatre hosts a lively programme of film and performing arts.

Lovely hotel, very clean and peaceful, great decor and loved the library. My wife and i stayed in the height of summer and aircon in the room was impressive.

Front the moment we walked through the door to the moment we said goodbye it was a fantastic experience. The decor and ambience of the hotel are brilliant taking you back to a bygone era without sacrificing any of the modern conveniences we expect. Our room was great and puts most modern hotels to shame. The staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble, they even organised a off-menu dinner for us at my request. We loved it so much we have booked to stay there at christmas. .
