Historic Cottage in the heart of Central Otago (20 minutes drive from Alexandra, 1hr 30 mins. from Queenstown and Wanaka)away from the hustle and bustle - Ryans Cottage in Ophir, Central Otago, is a self contained mud brick and stone cottage, presenting with old world charm.

Snuggle up to the cosy fire on winter evenings, or in the summer enjoy a private cottage garden bathed in sun with a grape vined outside dining area.

Sleeps 4/5 - 1 double - 2 single (a foldaway is available if needed).

A historic peaceful former goldfields town, Ophir, is renowned for it's old world charm, and lovely English styled gardens. Now an idyllic small village Ophir is enjoying a resurgence with the popularity of the Central Otago Rail Trail (2 KM's). In the village Pitches Store Cafe & Restaurant, and Black's Hotel serve excellent meals, an outdoor swimming pool and childrens play ground at the local Play Centre and 2 Vintage shops open in the summer months for a great fossick. Omakau 2km's away has the Muddy Creek Cafe and the Omakau Commercial Hotel which also have excellent catering along with a mini super market, golf course and tennis courts. The Manuherikia River 1 to 2km away has excellent trout fishing, and Gold Mining, walks in the Thyme covered hills, Historic Gold Mining areas,, Cafe's and Vineyards are abundant in the area.

Fabulous cute cottage to stay at. We would have liked to stay longer. It was very warm and cosy wh the fire. Well recommend this cottage. .

This little cottage is just delightful!! It is cosy, warm and inviting and is equiped with everything you need for a few days away. The colorful history is a wee bonus too. It is in a beautiful setting and is just the perfect spot for a quiet, restful weekend getaway. We would definately visit again!!
