Take a journey to Mount Tutu Eco-Sanctuary, a special world nestled in Native Rainforest. The moment you arrive, you will be embraced with a sense of well being. A secluded peaceful retreat, 1,000 feet above sea level, with clean running streams and pure spring waters.
Away from the city, we enjoy crystal clear night skies!

Stay for a night, or as long as you like! Mount Tutu Eco-Sanctuary - a destination, not just accommodation! A HEARTY BREAKFAST IS INCLUDED IN TARIFF.

- Challenge your senses and explore the GLOW WORM GROTTO, on our GLOW WORM TOUR after nightfall. A magnificent fairyland sight of nature's wonder! By chance you may also hear the haunting sound of the native owl, the Morpork (Ruru). This GLOW WORM TOUR (1 hour) is INCLUDED IN TARIFF.

A stay at Mount Tutu Eco-Sanctuary is an Outdoor Education Experience and immersion in the Natural Ecology, ongoing Bush and Bird Conservation programmes at the Sanctuary and at the nearby Otanewainuku Forest.

Mount Tutu Eco-Sanctuary is a "Mainland Island" Sanctuary: a paradise that is protected by an Act of Parliament, Queen Elizabeth II National Trust Act, a sanctuary that is ring fenced, allowing the natural environment to blossom. This Sanctuary has had a conservation programme operating for the past 26 years to protect this natural environment. This is a special place where the environment is respected and no chemical weed sprays are used.

- Be guided, or self explore the rainforest tracks, trailing through ancient native bush. New Zealand is a safe country with no dangerous animals, no snakes, no tropical diseases.

- There are Puketea Trees over 500 years old and a gravity defying Tawa giant that has a girth at its base of 5 metres.

- Hand feed the animals and waterfowl.

- Hear the morning chorus of native birdsong.

- Stroll around the expansive gardens.

- Enjoy the views as if you are soaring with the New Zealand Falcon 1000 ft up.

- Outdoor Education in Bushcraft and Native Flora by Tim Short (a former Mountain Safety Council Bushcraft Instructor - former mountaineer and Search and Rescue Volunteer - currently a volunteer for the Otanewainuku Kiwi Trust). Tim also has had a Department of Conservation Permit since 1989 to breed native waterfowl and since 1995, Kakariki's (N.Z. native parakeet).

As this is a Conservation area, Smoking is Prohibited.
We are Bed & Breakfast approved.

Because Travelbug only has provision for one price, please check our website for accurate tariffs to take account of high season/low season, discount for staying two or more nights and additional charge for children.
