Moanarua Beach Cottage offers the ultimate hideaway for the discerning traveller wishing to enjoy local hospitality in a tranquil seaside setting
The fully furnished 'whare' incorporates a modern design with an ancient cultural significance, through the unique carvings which depict the kaitiaki/gaurdians for the local Ngati Awa and Te Whanau a Apanui tribes.
Designed for maximum comfort and minimum stress with access to a luxury outdoor spa and BBQ. Continental breakfast provisions in your cottage and complimentary drinks and nibbles with us as we share stories.
The cottage comprises a fully equipped modern kitchen, bathroom with Chalfont gas heating and bedroom lounge area with King and Single beds, TV, sound system and dining suite. Wai fi available. The cottage is adorned with contemporary Maori art and the home and garden is a living story book of murals and design features that depict the surrounding environment and the rich cultural history of the area.
We have a boat for sunset wine and cheese tours or fishing trips and kayaks and boats for hire. A romantic retreat especially suitable for couples.

April 23-26. This holiday was too short! when we arrived at ohope, we were unsure about our surroundings and had some difficulty finding our place. Once we reached the street, there was no denying that the beautifully crafted maori designs on the house, lush bushes and unique cottage belonged to our hosts. I was excited and couldn?t wait to meet our hosts who definitely lived up to their reputation and good character. Vibrant personalities, friendly nature, extremely hospitable and loved to entertain. If you are looking for a warm and quiet place to put your feet up and have a great time, i would strongly recommend this cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed walking along the beach, having our bike rides around the harbor and relaxing in the hot spa j we wish you all the best miria and taroi and hope to see you in the near future!.

A wonderful find! miria and taroi were wonderfuld hosts. A warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Next time we'll stay longer, and would hire the bikes... Would be a good place to cycle. The self contained cottage was great and a generous breakfast. Big thumbs up from us.

Great location and accommodation with a very thoughtfully equipped cottage. Miria and Taroi are a lovely friendly and hospitable couple making us feel very welcome. Would have liked to have stayed longer thats for sure... and your jams are the best ever!!

November 2009. Such wonderful hosts, really lovely and so hospitable. Both very knowledgable about the area and its history. A great location situated a short 50 metre walk to both the beach and harbour at the quieter end of Ohope's Harbour Road. Great facilities and the perfect romantic retreat with onsite spa and very comfortable accommodation. We had a very relaxing time and will definately be back. Thanks for a lovely weekend Miria and Taroi.
