Another pleasant stay at the windsor. The room that i booked was available when i checked in and the service at reception was friendly and efficient as always. The rooms are getting a little tired now and there were some obvious path-ups in our bathroom but the beds are very comfortable and the shower works really well and i was happy. I still don't understand why free wi-fi is not an option in new zealand hotels and you still need to choose your rooms wisely at the windsor so as to avoid the 'doof doof' sounds that come at you from the nightclub in the lane behind the hotel through until 6am in the morning. It would be an insult to good musicians to call this 'music' and it is bloody annoying even though it is muffled. Pick a room in the front section of the hotel on the harbour side if you are a light sleeper. I am a big fan of this hotel otherwise - friendly, reliable, comfortable and very well located.

Disapointment - do not stay on a weekend as the night clubs play all night (our one went until 7am) as i am 6months pregnant we wanted to have a last break together away from home, children etc. We got woken up at 8:30am by staff vacuuming outside our room, we complained and so did the neighbour but the staff member kept going saying he had too, even though i said check out was at 10 so start after that. I contacted the front desk and they got him to stop but surely anyone with a brain cell, knows to keep it quiet until after check out? yes it maybe cheap but for the same price you can stay at better hotels, with car parks and quiet rooms. So avoid any of the rooms in the early 300's if you must stay.

We got a really cheap deal on this place and it suited our needs for a small get away for 1 night. It wasn't the service or quality that the other kardashian's on here seem to expect. I think people expect a flash brand new hotel with latest deatures, but this wasn't that. It was a hotel, with a bed, shower, room to eat and move around. I would love to see this place with a bit more staff and the finer details worked on... But over all, for $99 i wasn't complaining. Like i said we got a cheap deal... Don't complain if you not willing to spend lots of money on it.

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful but we were disappointed that our bed did not have a duvet or an extra blanket. The parking is a challenge as it is far from the hotel and is expensive. At breakfast we found a number of issues that needed us to call staff for help, i.e., coffee machine did not work until repaired by reception staff, there was not enough hot milk, teaspoons or coffee cups. Toaster was very slow. We had room 803 which had a slight view of the sea, we stayed there on a friday night and were not kept awake by noise from the clubs. We would not recommend staying there and will be more careful of treat me waikato specials in future. .

The staff service is great, but the room was a big disappointment, not anything like the website pictures, pays to read the fine print, not even a cover on the bed just a blanket & sheet. Requested an extra blanket , received from very friendly staff but the blanket was very smelly, ended up just throwing it on the floor. We upgraded to buffet breakfast at mecure akl & this made up for an otherwise very unpleasant stay at mecure akl windsor. I am a very average person but would def. Not recommend mecure windsor, wonder how they made it to hotel , i have stayed at way better motels. Overall very disappointing, i will be more careful when it comes to buying mystery deals on treat me accomodation. I think i would rather pay more than have this experience again. Stayed in room 405, was told there was a view, no view just pipework out the window & a very noisy lift. So don't do it!! , but staff are great.
