376 High Street Dunedin

Price range: $- - $-

A stately bed and breakfast homestay in the heart of Dunedin with commanding views of the city and harbour.

Experience the grace and charm of one of Dunedin's stately homes, while enjoying 21st century comfort at Highbrae. This "gentleman's residence" was built on Dunedin's High Street in 1908 when cable drawn trams ran between the city and the suburb of Mornington . Its style is typical of the era and features many art nouveau characteristics.

Today, this impressive home, which offers spectacular views of the city and harbour, provides first class bed and breakfast accommodation to its guests. All the rooms are carefully maintained to preserve as much as possible of the original architecture and style.

Three double guest rooms share the luxurious, Italian style upstairs bathroom, while a self contained studio unit with panoramic views, features Queen double bed, private bathroom and kitchenette. Downstairs a dedicated guest lounge with open fire, all day tea and coffee facilities, separate toilet, offers a comfortable place for relaxing, conversation or television viewing.

Light Kiwi breakfast, e.g. Cereals, Toast, Honey, Jams, Fruit, Yoghurt, Fruit juice, Coffee and Tea is included in the tariff. A cooked breakfast can be offered as an extra on request. Hosts Stephen & Fienie Clark are happy to offer recommendations for local restaurants and cafés serving lunch and dinner in Dunedin city, a short walk from Highbrae.

Great Guest house. The owners were awesome - friendly and went out of their way to help. Facilities were clean and very accessible to the city by foot.

Warm and wonderful hospitality!
We loved our stay at Highbrae guest house. The owners are warm, sweet and generous hosts. The accommodations are lovely? large rooms, antique comfortable furniture and a lovely bathroom complete with a cast-iron bathtub. You must try Stevens scrambled eggs! They are absolutely out of this world.

Impressive and strongly recommended
Good location, clean facilities, excellent breakfast...It will be perfect if we could spend more time here. Historical house is amazing, and delicate furnitures are attractive and cozy. Friendly host make our trip even impressive. Thank you!
