This scenic journey starts from Russell village travelling out to the amazing Ngaiotonga State Forest, which is one of the few areas of Northland to have survived the intensive timber logging industry of the 19th & 20th century. A 30-minute bush walk highlights the forests unique native fauna, flora and majestic Kauri trees. Walk beneath the canopy of these large trees and feel the ancient and primeval feel of yesteryear.
