Fernbrook provides quality accommodation for the discerning traveller to the Bay of Islands.
We offer a delightful beach front cottage or a hilltop apartment both with sea and garden views and located on our 65 acre (27ha) property set aside as a nature reserve and habitat for the North Island brown Kiwi which can be heard calling at night and are occasionally seen.
THE COTTAGE: Built in 1917 and completely restored using recycled New Zealand timbers.
There are two spacious bedrooms each with ensuite bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and laundry with washing machine and dryer.
The sitting/dining room has an open fireplace, the study a TV and video player.
All rooms open onto a deck which runs the full length of the house.
THE APARTMENT: High on a hill above the Bay, the apartment has two large bedrooms each with ensuite, a fully eqipped kitchen and laundry, comfortable sitting/dining area with TV and video player and an outdoor terrace with expansive sea views.
DINING AT FERNBROOK: For those who prefer to dine at Fernbrook we offer dinner in the main house (3 courses) but require 24 hours' notice.
THE PROPERTY: On our 65 acres we have a secluded beach, bush walks, a stream and waterfall.
Guests can walk for hours exploring the bush and listening to the more than 40 different bird species which thrive here under our protection.
We are only 15 minutes from the historic sites of Kerikeri and within easy driving distance of two golf courses of international quality, Kauri Cliffs and Waitangi.
We can arrange boating on the Bay, fishing, kayaking, Kiwi viewing in the wild and dolphin watching.
