Birds Ferry Road Charleston Westport

Price range: $431.25 - $603.75

BIRDS FERRY LODGE:
Purpose built on the edge of a glacial terrace, Birds Ferry Lodge overlooks native forest in the valley below and the Tasman Sea beyond.

The Lodge is the centre piece of our 33 acre property which you are welcome to explore. On arrival you will enjoy a warm welcome from your hosts, then peace secluusion and relaxation awaits you. The Lodge Tariff includes a full cooked breakfast.

The spacious guest lounge is there for you to relax in during your stay at Birds Ferry Lodge. Comfy leather upholstery and a roaring log fire in front of the huge windows where you can take in the view out to the ocean and the Totara Valley below. Enjoy a welcome refreshment on arrival accompanied by some of Alison's home baking or a pre dinner aperitif from the house bar. Dinners are our specialty so be sure to book. The library is stocked with a selection of magazines and books with something to interest most. There is also a supply of board games and puzzles for a day indoors.

The semi remote, rural location means that the wildlife is in abundance. The native Weka visits the garden and at night the call of the Kiwi has been heard from the Lodge. Wild deer have been spotted from the deck and whilst enjoying the spa after dark guests are kept company by our local Common Owl who rests on the back of the chair right beside them! Tui and Bell birds visit the well stocked bird table.

FERRY MAN'S COTTAGE:
Our recently completed, purpose built self catering cottage is located at the very end of Birds Ferry Road.

Ferry Man's Cottage offers an exclusive self contained lakeside retreat set in it's own private 12 acre section which forms part of our 33 acre property. Located on the edge of a small Lake, 2 km from the highway and, with only native Wekas, Pukekos and wild ducks as neighbors this is a most peaceful spot.

The solid timber cottage is finished to a very high standard and designed to take in the panoramic mountain and ocean views- all the luxury touches of Birds Ferry Lodge but with a fully equipped kitchen in your own very private setting.

Luxurious interiors are warmed by a roaring fire and radiators meaning the cottage is cosy at all times of the year. There is a TV, DVD player (with DVDs) for those who would miss one and a cd player, magazines and games. Cell phone reception is usually good here.

The modern fully tiled bathroom has a shower and a bath and is supplied with large towels and luxury toiletries, hairdryer and heater. Under floor heating adds that luxury touch. The cottage has an ample supply of hot water.

A fully equipped kitchen includes microwave, oven, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. A BBQ is also provided. Your tariff includes a welcome pack of breakfast supplies to get you started - homemade bread and preserves, bacon or local sausages, our own free range eggs, milk tea and coffee.

Surrounded by beautiful scenery, the Lodge is 2km from the main road and accessed from State Highway 6 via our own private road. We are 15 minutes South from Westport and 30 minutes North from Punakaiki.

Living here is just like how it's described! Very relaxing and peaceful. Alison's cooking was marvelous, thank you! Use of home-grown ingredients makes everything all the more tasty. Andre has extensive local knowledge and his recommendations ensured our days were well planned and that we saw some hidden gems of this beautiful part of New Zealand.
