Great place to stay. We stayed here as a stop over on the way to auckland, and found the room very clean, and location was close to lots of food places. Only gripe was the bathroom light didn't go, and the bedroom light flicked to the point that you couldn't use it without getting a headache. Had to use the small wall lamps.

Excellent modern room, with good central location. Unfortunately the Backpackers is right over a club which was open until 2.30am, so not much sleep was had. Would stay again, but not on a Fri or Saturday night if you intend to sleep before 3am.

Was very nice room with ensuite (for a backpackers) and during the day was fine. We were on the third level and were there for the round Taupo race and as no lift had to walk up stairs with bike & bags etc but no big deal. Only issue was on Friday night the room we had on the north facing side was as if it was on top of a night club with the music from the club down stairs and those across the road pumping the sounds till 3 in the morning. Was a pain on th eFriday night when wanted a semi ealry night but fine on the Saturday night as was out enjoying said music :) Overall was cool place to stay if yo don't want an early night (on North facing side anyway not sure if other rooms are quieter).
