Clean, good facilities
I only stayed one very short night, but found the facility to be excellent. Private showers and bathrooms for each room, heated swimming pool, and $5 drinks at the next-door Lava Bar. Clean, comfortable bed as well, though the bunks do shake noisily when climbing on or off.

When we arrived to check in for the double ensuite room booked via travel bug the guy on the desk could find no such booking. We where not able to have the room because of this and instead given a room with four singles and where told there would be a double up for us and there would be clean towels. When we came back later, we opened the door to the room to be hit by a strong smell of damp and mould. No double bed was made up and no towels provided. The desk downstairs was not occupied, so we decided to just push the beds together ourselves. When we moved the bed next to the balcony door the source of the mould became evident, as the floor was saturated with water and growing a forest. The next morning we raised the issues with the woman at the desk who didn't care less. She said 'oh thanks for letting us know, we never actually go up to the rooms, so unless someone tells us we would never know about it'...OMG ew. Do not book here, there are WAY better places to stay. Never again BASE.

Located very close to all the entertainment and places to see so you might leave your car in the hostel and go for a wonderful walk:)

Great stay as always:) every year I travel to Rotorua and this hostel is my first choice:) always friendly staff, very clean all around:) the pool and spa make this place simply breathtaking:) for such an indulgence you would pay so little:) recommend to everybody:) staying downstairs helps you to avoid any possible noise from the bar or upstairs so you would definitely enjoy staying here with your family:)
