New Zealand Dairy Farm Tours.
Nestled amoung the beautiful rolling Northland hills you will discover 'Ashgrove Farmstay & Dairy Farm Tours'. A warm welcome, refreshments, time to rest and take a closer look at New Zealands primary industry: Dairy farming.
The farm is 1600 acres and includes a sheep and two dairy farms. With Waipu 20 minutes to the east and the Kaipara harbour 20 minutes to the west we are off the main route within reach off all Twin Coast and Kauri Coast travellers.
Bus groups are welcome and group booking rates available.
We are a typical New Zealand dairy farm milking 400 Friesian spring claving cows, as well as 160 Jersey spring calving cows on our adjoining farm.
Make your way to the homestead for refreshments while we tell you the farm history and discuss any hazards you need to be aware of. Then collect a pair of gumboots from our boot cupboard and walk with us through the bush down to the cow shed. If you catch the afternoon milking between August & April (depending how dry the summer is) you will see the shed in action - otherwise we will walk through the shed and see the feed-pad and infrastructure supporting milk production on the farm. A short walk to the yards will show you the calf rearing, sheep shearing facilities, farm dogs and probably a few pet sheep.
Allow an 80 minutes from arrival to experience the farm. This walk will continue in light rain so if the weather is not settled there may be a delay in the homestead where there is ample room to linger and take in the views.

Campervans (self-contained) are welcome to park overnight by arrangement.

If you are wanting to go over the farmland and into the paddocks - the farm is 1600acres and we do offer a one to one tour, which can include lunch, to people wishing to see most of the farm with the farmer. You will hear of the changes over a 50 year period and hear of the plans for the land in as much detail as you ask for! This tour takes two hours plus lunch - a packed lunch option is availiable if time is limited. This tour is ideal for industry partners or interested people wishing to understand & experience the industry of farming in New Zealand better. You will thoroughly enjoy this tour - it is memorable and suited to all weather - other than torrential rain when visibility is restricted.

You will thorougly enjoy this tour!
