RUGBY WORLD CUP TEAMS

The 2011 Rugby World Cup tournament featured 20 teams from around the world.







The following teams qualified for the 2011 World Cup by finishing in the top 3 of their group in the 2007 Rugby World Cup:
  • Argentina
  • Australia
  • England
  • Fiji
  • France
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • New Zealand
  • Scotland
  • South Africa
  • Tonga
  • Wales
A 112 match qualifying process commenced in April 2008 to select the remaining teams. The 6 teams that qualified from this process are:
  • Canada
  • Georgia
  • Namibia
  • Romania
  • Samoa
  • United States

Seeding of the teams for the 2011 Rugby World Cup was based on their IRB World Rankings as at 1 December 2008.

The Pools for the Rugby World Cup 2011 were;

Pool A: New Zealand, France, Tonga, Canada, Japan
Pool B: Argentina, England, Scotland, Georgia, Romania
Pool C: Australia, Ireland, Italy, Russia, USA
Pool D: South Africa, Wales, Fiji, Samoa, Namibia

The Cup was won by New Zealand after they beat France in the final 8-7.
