
RUGBY WORLD CUP TEAMS
The 2011 Rugby World Cup tournament will again feature 20 teams from around the world.
The following teams qualified for the 2011 World Cup by finishing in the top 3 of their group in the 2007 Rugby World Cup:
- Argentina
- Australia
- England
- Fiji
- France
- Ireland
- Italy
- New Zealand
- Scotland
- South Africa
- Tonga
- Wales
A 112 match qualifying process commenced in April 2008 to select the remaining 8 teams. The 4 teams which have so far qualified from this process are:
- Namibia
- United States
- Canada
- Samoa
2 more teams will qualify from the 2010 European Nations championship, one from the 2010 Asian 5 Nations Championship, and one from a 4 team Playoff series.
Seeding of the teams for the 2011 Rugby World Cup was based on their IRB World Rankings as at 1 December 2008.
